About the university

Georgian College was founded in 1967 as part of Ontario's efforts to create a province-wide system of colleges. It currently has seven campuses, all of which train students in applied arts and technological fields. An impressive 28% of the total student population of 13,000 comes from 85 countries around the world, creating an atmosphere of diversity and cooperative learning. The small number of students spread across the seven campuses means that class sizes are typically small with no more than 26 people per class, assuring that everyone gets the focused attention they need to learn and overcome any barriers or challenges. Facilities, majors, and student residences vary by campus. The Ba

rrie campus is the oldest and largest campus of Georgian College. As such, it has the greatest variety of majors, facilities spread across 47 acres, and an eight-story residence hall. Students are able to study business management, computer studies, engineering, design, liberal arts, hospitality, nursing, and plenty of other degrees and combined degree-diplomas through the university partnership program. Students will find all the resources they need for health and well-being, including a fitness center, library, student lounges, art gallery, climbing wall, five restaurants, and two Tim Hortons. Off campus, the town of Barrie offers all sorts of outdoor adventures such as skiing, golfing, and hiking, as well as the chance just to bask in the beautiful views of snow-capped mountains and lakefront beaches.
