About the university

Located in Southampton on the southern coast of England, the Southampton University dates back to 1862. In 1902, it became a university college, and in 1952 became an independent university through royal charter. Before 1952 it was awarded the University of London academic degree and is now a member of the Russell University Group. The student population is 23,315, 6,850 of who are undergoing postgraduate studies. The university has eight faculties, each with a number of academic courses. These include the Business and Law School, Faculty of Engineering and Environment, Civil Engineering and Environment, Sound and Vibration Research Institute, Faculty of Science Health, Faculty of Humanitie
