About the university

In 2005, the Royal University for Women opened in Bahrain and became the first private, international university for women in the country. Today, the focus of the university remains on producing qualified, well-rounded graduates who have a multicultural focus, ready to live and work in a diverse world. This focus has earned the university recognition both nationally, from the Bahrain National Qualifications Framework, and internationally, from the Accreditation Service for International Colleges. RUW offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from five different colleges: The College of Art and Design, the College of Business and Financial Sciences, the College of Information Technology,

the College of Law, and the College of Engineering. Students are able to take advantage of all campus amenities, such as the swimming pool, fitness center, library, residence hall, cafe, and student-run clubs. The RUW campus is located in the city of Riffa and just half an hour from the capital city of Manama. Attending college on an island comes with the benefit of always being able to quickly reach a beach by traveling in any direction. A fifteen minute trip west brings students to the picturesque seaside town of Zallaq with its famous Jazaer Beach, and a fifteen minute trip east brings students to the resort city of Sitra. Just 40 minutes away, on the southern coast of the country, are the man-made islands of Durrat Al Bahrain. Closer to home students will find plenty of places to explore, such as the Bahrain Military Museum, Riffa Fortress, and the iconic Riffa Clock Tower. Students will also find plenty of quiet, serene places to study or relax with friends at one of the area parks or gardens. Riffa is an exciting place to live and study, and the RUW campus provides the safety and academic focus young students need.
