About the university

Established in downtown Cleveland in 1964, Cleveland State University now serves over 17,000 students each year with 200 academic programs under the University System of Ohio. This includes 70 undergraduate majors, 27 master's degree programs, six doctoral degrees, and two law degrees at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. The university prides itself on its research facilities and cooperates with various Cleveland-based companies and programs such as the NASA Glenn Research Center. Though a large percentage of students commute to the school from the metro area, the campus has a historic high rise residence hall as well as shared apartments for students who wish to live on campus, includi

ng international students. The staff on campus are ready and waiting to help accommodate students with various needs as well as assist international students with acclimation. Life on campus includes all the amenities of a large university, including sports and wellness facilities, an active arts and theater culture, fraternities and sororities, counseling services, a food court and coffee shop, and more than 200 student organizations. Students might enjoy taking part in a volunteer program, participating in student government, or cheering on the NCAA Division I Vikings. Since the campus is located in downtown Cleveland, students will also have easy access to activities off campus, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, the zoo, and of course the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bus, trolley, and train lines that run throughout the city make transportation easy for students as they explore their surroundings, especially if they take advantage of the free trolleys. Attending university in the shadow of beautiful Terminal Tower and the historic and cinematic Higbee's building, close to the exciting Flats, and within walking distance of the homes of the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers, will make any student happily say hello to Cleveland and CSU.
