About the university

Dublin City University (DCU) was founded in 1980 as National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin, before gaining university status in 1989. Currently, it enrolls 17,000 students and boasts an alumni network of over 50,000. In order to make education accessible to more students around the globe, D~cU also offers online courses to over 1,200 students living abroad and attending the school remotely. Known widely for its research, DCU maintains five campuses spread across Ireland, and welcomes students to five schools consisting of a total of 22 schools. In addition to its strength in research, the university offers renowned programs in entrepreneurship, as well as in the cultures and arts. I

t is one of three Irish higher education institutions to ranks in the world’s top 300, and was named Irish University of the Year in 2010.
