City Name | Sliema
Population: 17,500
Sliema is located on the northeastern coast of Malta, in the Mediterranean Sea. The city is characterized by its calm and comforting atmosphere, which is what its name refers to. The name comes from the Maltese word "Selim" meaning peace or quiet. The city was founded in the fifteenth century AD as a small fishing village and has evolved over time to become one of the most important coastal cities of Malta. Today, the city has many shopping centers and cultural sites. It also houses a large number of distinctive tourist attractions, world-class hotels, fine restaurants and cafes, and international English schools and institutes. The city's seafront is full of attractive beaches, as well as many hiking and camping areas.
