LSI School
Language Studies International offers students the chance to study languages in host countries where they will be surrounded by native speakers. With over 50 years of experience, official schools in seven different countries, and partner schools all over the world, LSI is able to accommodate language learners of 46 different languages. Students of various ages are able to find a program suited to their needs, including an international high school for teenagers sixteen to nineteen, year-long academic language terms, university preparation courses, summer camps for kids as young as seven, career-based specialty courses, and basic language courses for all levels.
The Zurich campus of LSI is located in the heart of Switzerland where students can immerse themselves in the German language. Staff at the school plan fun social excursions, including winter sports activities, swimming and sailing on the lake, and city tours, affording students opportunities to learn more about Swiss culture and use their German skills outside the classroom. Course options include General German, academic year courses, summer and winter camps for kids and teenagers, and preparation for German proficiency exams; accommodations include shared apartments, a student residence, and home stays. The modern and fully-equipped LSI facilities are located just blocks from Lake Zurich and minutes from the historic downtown area along the river. The famous Bahnhofstrasse is less than 20 minutes away on foot, and the summit of Uetliberg lies across the lake where it is easily accessible by public transportation. This system of public transportation includes buses, trains, trams, and even ships, allowing students to explore all of Zurich and beyond.
Population: 1,500,000
With almost two million people in the metro area, the city of Zurich is the largest in Switzerland. The history of the current city goes back to Roman times, though there is evidence of earlier settlements dating back 6400 years. Due to this long, storied history, as well as the city's importance in modern economics and the banking industry, Zurich possesses a lively culture, a prosperous society, and a highly satisfactory quality of life. Visitors will quickly recognize all of these qualities as they enjoy the historic architecture along the Limmat River, explore Gothic and Baroque churches in the old city, indulge in the city's famous chocolates, and visit the exclusive shops of the Bahnhofstrasse. The culture and history of the city also come alive at the various museums and art galleries, including the Swiss National Museum and the Zurich Museum of Art. However, nature is not far away with several city parks dotting the landscape, lakeside retreats and water sports on Lake Zurich, and sweeping city views from the mountaintop serenity of Uetliberg. Switzerland is known around the world for its peaceful stance, and Zurich perfectly typifies this amicable and placid temperament.
