Edu-Inter French School

Edu-Inter French School

Each year Edu-inter French School serves 1500 students from all around the world, offering programs that span all levels and range from teenagers to adults. Communicative-based classroom experiences are bolstered by fun, cultural activities around the city and province, earning the school an accreditation from Languages Canada and a recommendation from the Quebec City Tourism Bureau. Adult students are able to choose the intensity of their language program as well as combine French with any number of exciting activities, such as cooking, music, dramatic arts, and winter sports. Edu-inter also offers exam preparation courses for the DELF, TFI, TEFaQ, and work-study and volunteer-study programs allow students to put their French to use while engaging the community. Teenagers can choose a fun summer or winter camp from a list that includes tennis camp, dance camp, cooking camp, hockey camp, horseback riding camp, and circus camp. They can also stay at the school longer in order to integrate into a French-speaking high school. Edu-inter offers both on and off campus residence halls, though students may wish to stay with a local host family in order to complete their immersive experience. The wonders of Quebec City are right outside the door of Edu-inter. Just in front of the building sits a large lawn where students are often seen picnicking and studying. Beyond that lies an ice skating rink, terraces with sweeping views of the city and the St. Lawrence River, and plenty of choices for dining and shopping. The city's bus system stops outside the school, and in less than 30 minutes students can be shopping on the picturesque Rue du Petit Champlain, walking along the Terrasse Dufferin, or riding the Old Quebec Funicular to the riverfront. The modern amenities of Quebec City offer students everything they could possibly need while the historic parks and architecture offer to take students back in time in a place that is both culturally French and full of Canadian hospitality and kindness.

Though Canada is largely an English-speaking country, the province of Quebec is a French-speaking enclave full of fascinating culture and history. Quebec City is the capital of the province, situated on the St. Lawrence River where the weather brings warm summers and beautiful, snowy winters. The European history of the area is apparent in its architecture, from the stone fortifications that surround the old city to the winding cobblestone streets full of quaint cafes. Below the fortifications and along the waterfront lies the lower part of the city, connected to the upper part by famed steep staircases as well as a funicular. Visitors can walk along the Terrasse Dufferin while taking in views of the river, studying the history of the city at Battlefields Park, and basking in the luxurious architecture of the Chateau Frontenac and Notre-Dame de Québec Cathedral. Quebec City also has plenty of modern amenities, including various sports teams, skyscrapers such as Le Concorde, and multiple business districts, as well as green spaces such as Park Victoria and Montmorency Falls. The city is the perfect marriage of old-world European charm and modern commercial success, all within the hospitable and safe atmosphere of Canada's eastern seaboard.
