Lexis Japan
Lexis is a premier language education company that was founded in Queensland in 2004 and has since expanded all across Australia and Asia, training over 5,000 students each year in English, Korean, and Japanese. Lexis Japan is located in Kobe and offers a wide range of language courses and activities to students of all backgrounds, nationalities, and levels. Along with classroom time and planned extracurricular activities, students can participate in a "Lexis Meet Up" which pairs students with native speakers in order to facilitate better language practice as well as foster relationships with locals. Courses offered include an intensive Japanese class, evening classes for more casual learners or for those trying to brush up on their previously acquired skills, private lessons, and JLPT exam preparation. Teenagers can also participate in a summer program that combines classroom time with afternoon excursions. Accommodations include private apartments, dormitory housing, or home stays with local families, all of which are accessible using public transportation.
While Kobe, Japan, is home to 1.5 million people, it's smaller than Japan's mega-cities which means travel time is less, the main sites are closer to the city center, and locating scenic areas is possible on foot. Situated on Osaka Bay, Kobe is famous for its beautiful Harborland area with waterfront shopping, dining, and entertainment. The Kobe Port Tower, which is just four minutes from the Lexis campus, offers a panoramic view of the entire city and Bay, and a cable car fifteen minutes from campus takes visitors up Mount Rokko for another panoramic view along with hiking trails and access to the tranquil Arima Onsen hot springs. Close to the Lexis campus are restaurants, malls, gyms, Kobe East Park, Meriken Park, and the Port of Kobe Earthquake Memorial, all within walking distance. Kobe is a city that is alive with culture and activity, though quiet spots are easy to find as students study, learn, and adapt to life in Japan.

Kobe is the perfect marriage of busy, modern Japan and peaceful, historic Japan. Found on Osaka Bay, Kobe offers plenty of waterfront activities at its Harborland, including restaurants, shopping, concerts, amusement parks, and a large Ferris Wheel. Visitors are able to take in all the sites of the harbor and the city from a birds eye viewpoint at the top of the Kobe Port Tower. However, when they are ready for serenity, it's not far from the city center. An antique cable car takes visitors to the top of Mount Rokko where they can view the city from the still of the mountain air or hike through the cherry blossoms. On the other side of the mountain is Arima Onsen hot springs, another quiet diversion from the city. The Ikuta Shrine, which was built in the third century, is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in the world and sits right in the middle of more modern city buildings. Of course, no visit to Kobe is complete without sampling the local cuisine and trying the eponymous Kobe beef. With 1.5 million residents and plenty of activities, Kobe gives visitors the option of exciting entertainment broken up by periods of tranquility.
