Schiller Language School
Schiller Language School specializes in preparing prospective university students for their entrance exams as well as for life at a German university. Since the school mostly focuses on this one area of German language learning, they are also able to assist students with student visas, selecting which university is the best fit for them, and applications and admissions services for universities across the country. The teachers at Schiller are experts in training students to pass the TestDaF and DSH entrance exams as well as any tests required by a public Studienkolleg. Doctors who already hold a medical degree can take a medical German course in order to prepare for licensure in Germany, and teenagers fourteen to seventeen can attend a four-week summer camp in order to improve their German while enjoying outdoor activities and cultural excursions. All the activities and lessons at Schiller are geared toward the success of students as they progress towards living their lives in German.
Berlin has been at the center of history since its founding in the 1200s. It is currently the capital of Germany and home to almost four million people, and it is also home to several prominent universities. It is possible for students to adapt to life in Berlin under the care of staff at Schiller Language School and then move on to a university in Berlin, already knowing their way around the city and feeling comfortable with their surroundings. While in Berlin, students have the opportunity to learn world history through the eyes of Germans, particularly the history of World War II and the Cold War.
The historic Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag Building, Museum Island, and East Side Gallery with its section of the deconstructed Berlin Wall, are all within half an hour of campus by car. Closer to campus are several parks for both sports and leisure where students can unwind and perhaps prepare for joining a intramural sports league at university. Restaurants and cafes are within walking distance of campus, and access to public transportation on the S-Bahn, underground, or bus circuit make exploring the city easy. Students in Berlin may stay in a shared flat, in a private apartment, or with a German host family where they can practice living among Germans as they will during their time at university.
