GLS German Language School
In the middle of Berlin sits the luxurious campus of one of the best language schools in Germany. German Language School Berlin has more than 35 years of experience training the German speakers of tomorrow and equipping foreign employees of German companies with the skills they need to succeed. Over the years GLS has gained a reputation for excellence, so much so that they are in the elite club of StudyTravel Super Stars, and other language schools send their teachers to GLS to train. While classes help students progress in all four areas of communication, emphasis is placed on spoken communication, and programs include consultation hours to help students focus their studies and assess their level. GLS has a variety of programs to fit the specific needs of their students, including Business German, German for adults over the age of 30, summer camps for kids and teenagers, and TestDaF and Goethe examination preparation. Basic German courses come in the four intensity levels of standard, semi-intensive, intensive, and crash, and teenagers interested in an especially intensive program can work through GLS to attend a German high school as an exchange student.
The campus of GLS is a unique gem within the bustling city of Berlin. More like a university campus than a language school, the campus includes a historic hotel that has been turned into student apartments, a restaurant, a cafeteria, gardens, and an indoor pool. Within walking distance of the campus are restaurants with all different types of international cuisine, a large public park with both a football stadium and green spaces where students can relax, and churches that show off the historic architecture of the area. Public transportation sits right outside the doors of the language school, connecting students to the greater Berlin area and landmarks such as the nearby Brandenburg Gate and Museum Island, as well as Checkpoint Charlie and other remnants of the Cold War. Berlin is an exciting European city, and GLS offers its students a safe base from which to explore the German capital and a comfortable landing spot upon return.
