Inlingua Como

Inlingua Como

Inlingua Como employs the "Inlingua Training Method" to educate students in a positive atmosphere. This method, based on over 50 years of research and experience, emphasizes speaking and practical examples rather than textbooks and theoretical explanations. Concepts are taught in three stages. Teachers present the material, spending as little time on this stage as possible, then help students practice what they've learned until mastery, allowing them to move into the production stage of learning. Through these stages, students absorb vocabulary and grammar as expert trainers coach them through new material, correct mistakes, and allow them to speak for 80% of each class. Inlingua Como is unique in that students aren't restricted to learning Italian. The school employs native speakers of German, French, and English, offering courses in each, and helps students study for the BULATS exam. For students who choose to study Italian specifically, both group and individual courses are offered as well as intensive programs that combine Italian study with holiday activities. Inlingua Como is also a certified CELI exam center where students can both prepare for and take the exam. Como is a small Italian city located about an hour north of Milan on the picturesque Lake Como. The beautiful lake views and quiet Italian village ambiance allow students to learn in an intimate setting with ample opportunities to talk with locals. The Inlingua campus is located in the shadow of the Gothic Como Cathedral as well as within walking distance of several other cathedrals and basilicas known for their medieval architecture. Just ten minutes from campus students can walk along the waterfront promenade, study in a sunny spot overlooking the lake, or catch the funicular railroad up to the top of a hill where they can see the whole area from above. Due to the central location of the Inlingua campus, students can also enjoy walking through historic cobblestone streets and discovering quaint cafes and traditional Italian restaurants. For an added adventure, Milan is just an hour away by train, after which students can return to the quiet calm of Como.

Sweeping mountain views, a picturesque lakefront promenade, and European architecture all merge in the bewitching city of Como. The location has been popular with civilizations for thousands of years, leaving behind ancient ruins, churches, and artwork from all the major eras of the past. One of the most famous of these is the grand Como Cathedral with its ornate interior and dome, though the 11th century Basilica of Saint'Abbondio boasts detailed mosaic artwork that has captivated art lovers for centuries. Como provides plenty of opportunities for visitors to learn about its history with museums dedicated to various industries and famous residents, including the Tempio Voltiano which honors the scientist Alessandro Volta. Along the waterfront sits Villa Olma with its grand columns, fountains, and lush gardens, and visitors can take in the entire area by catching a funicular from Como to the small hilltop village of Brunate. As with any good Italian city, Como is full of quaint cafes and hometown restaurants where visitors can relax, socialize with locals, and sample traditional Italian cuisine. Just an hour north of the industrious city of Milan, Como offers an idyllic and tranquil Italian retreat that will leave visitors awestruck.
