International House Rome
As part of the International House World Organization, International House Rome has provided the expertise students need to grow as Italian speakers for 45 years. Teachers use communicative-based teaching methods to ensure that students understand the material, and class sizes are kept to a minimum to accommodate a diverse body of students from around the world. Students can choose group or individual intensives, combined courses that teach Italian for specific settings (legal Italian, business Italian, etc.), and a university preparation course for students who wish to apply to an Italian university. There is also an option to enter an internship program, study for the CILS or CELI exams, and learn about Italian art and cuisine while studying the language. Students can choose to live in a shared flat or stay with a local host family.
As the seat of the ancient Roman Empire and the current home of Vatican City, the modern city of Rome provides a glimpse into the history of the Western World and Christendom. Students can visit famous Roman landmarks such as the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, tour St. Peter's Basilica and a multitude of other historic churches, learn about Italian history at the Rome Museum, and experience the height of Renaissance art at the Sistine Chapel. Rome has long been at the center of the ebb and flow of the Western World, and students who study with the GEOS Italian immersion program will join in that living history as both observers and participants.

Rome, Italy’s capital, is a sprawling, cosmopolitan city with nearly 3,000 years of globally influential art, architecture and culture on display. A heady mix of haunting ruins, awe-inspiring art and vibrant street life, Rome is one of the world’s most romantic and inspiring cities. Rome's cityscape is an exhilarating spectacle. Ancient icons such as the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Pantheon recall the city’s golden age as caput mundi (capital of the world), while its many monumental basilicas testify to its historical role as seat of the Catholic Church. Few cities can rival Rome's astonishing artistic heritage. Throughout history, the city has starred in the great upheavals of Western art, drawing the top artists of the day and inspiring them to push the boundaries of creative achievement. Idling around picturesque streets, whiling away hours at streetside cafes, people-watching on pretty piazzas – these are all an integral part of the experience awaiting you in this iconic city.
