The Institute of Technology, Carlow (IT Carlow), established in 1970, is one of the largest technology colleges in Ireland. It offers undergraduate & postgraduate degree programs and part-time courses in varied areas of study. In addition, Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) is an important part of IT Carlow’s activities and is a vital aspect of the interaction of the Institute with industry and other higher educational and research institutes. Carlow is the county town of County Carlow, Ireland, in the southeast of Ireland, 84 km from Dublin. The River Barrow flows through the town, and forms the historic boundary between counties Laois and Carlow. One of Carlow's most notable landmarks is the Brownshill Dolmen, situated on the Hacketstown Road. The capstone of this impressive Dolmen is reputed to be the largest in Europe.
