About the university

The history of the University of California, Irvine (UCI) goes back to 1964 when President Lyndon B. Johnson stepped into Irvine Ranch and dedicated the land into what has become the present university. It is a public research university and gradually became a member of the Association of American universities in 1996 making it the youngest university to hold membership. Graduates are being well-prepared during their time spent at UCI leading their way into today’s world.
